Villanova's Centennial, celebrated in 1942-1943, had to be curtailed
because of World War II. A brief, illustrated history of the college's first
one-hundred years appeared in the student year book, The Belle Air, for 1943. The
centennial observances began with a Solemn Pontifical Mass in September 1942 and concluded
with a special convocation in May 1943.
